Map and Description
The diving took place off the Northeast coast of Australia. I spent four nights on a “live-aboard”: a dive boat that takes you out to the Reef, and on which you can stay while out on sea. This allows you to go out further than a day boat could, and thus to places that are less frequently visited. My boat left from Cairns, the epicenter of scuba diving for the Great Barrier Reef…
On this map you can see our route: The first night we went from Cairns to the North end of the Ribbon Reef, where we dived the Cod Hole and Pixie Wall/Pixie Reef. The second night we went out to Osprey Reef, where we saw a lot of sharks, and in fact did a shark feed. The third night it was back to the Ribbon Reef, and later in the day to Agincourt Reef. On the last day we returned to Cairns.
