The hike<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

To get from the Siberian village to the point where we started rafting took four days of hiking…<\/p>\n

During the hike we had horsemen (local Buryat people) accompanying us: the horses were carrying much of the luggage.<\/p>\n

\"\" \"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

Part of the challenge was wading through streams (and truth be told, I didn’t always make it without falling)…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

On one occasion we could use a tree-trunk to cross the stream.<\/p>\n

\"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

The first week it rained quite a bit – so I did with a garbage bag for a hood.<\/p>\n

The last bit before the pass was very exhausting…<\/p>\n

The highest point of our hike.\u00a0 At this point we are only a few kilometers from Mongolia.<\/p>\n

At some points the view was really spectacular!<\/p>\n

One of the most impressive sights of all was troops of galloping horses.<\/p>\n
